Hey team, love your work.
Been a long time lurker. Recently come across a MBP 2012 (Unsure of which just yet as the back has been removed and haven't had a good look at the board.)

Is there a way by chance I can clip onto the chip using the SOIC clip and then plug it into the EFI Destroyer?
Or do I need to SOIC8 Clip onto a raspberry Pi and go that way?

Thanks very much!

Yes, SOIC8 clip works fine on the EFIDL. I recently used it on a few imacs this way.

Setup the wires on the side of the EFIDL as shown on the card that comes with it or this image:

Then setup the wires on the SOIC8 clip to hook up to the SOIC chip like this:

Just confirming, that this will require a breadboard, yeah?

I personally did not use a breadboard. I just twisted the red wires together and taped them. some solder them instead.

Okay, so i've got a board. 820-236-B. I was wanting to clip onto it using my SOIC8 clip and connect it to my EFI Destroyer.

However, i'm struggling a wee bit here. First of all, is this possible? OR, do I HAVE to pull the dump, edit it and reflash it?

Secondly, my pin layout. I'm failing to understand what goes where.

I'm assuming that this schem picture is my chip i need to clip onto? What goes where? lmao EFIDL has GND,VCC.SO.SI.C:L.CS and not many correlate which that chip.
The 2nd image is from the boardview software.

I assume that would make this my datasheet

Ok, I made a diagram for you. Ignore the colors on the left side. I color coded only the stuff on the right and pointed to the correct pin on the EFIDL.

The 3 red wires coming from the SOIC8 all need to connect to each other by twisting or solder or breadboard or however you want to connect them.

The picture of the chip itself should be enough to show you how to orient your SOIC8 clip on the chip.

Thanks for your efforts. I kinda got it to work. It did the whole blue light business then slow green, however. Now the MBP doesn't boot. I get a semi fan spin and and no boot. I've ordered a Pi 3 so i'll pull the dump and see what it shows!

Thanks.
