Long story short I bought a macbook pro from a shady dude and it was firmware locked (didn't know at the time of sale) and it has no OS on it so I get flashing folder sign or firmware password icons. So going from the serial on the back "ultimate mac lookup website" says its a MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid-2012 EMC *2554. I've taken out hard drive and tried formatting on another mac I have....didn't work says it has bad last block. Tried a new hard drive with OS on it...didn't work. I got the controller off ebay for 10$. I'll be more than happy to give my dump once I figure that out. Please advise and thank you it is very much appreciated.
Ok Can you please post pics of your setup? I need to see all the tools you have available. Do you have just the programmer and USB cable? Or did it come with an SOIC8 clip as well? I am sure this can be used, but I have to get it figured out.
If you have it hooked up right you can then use flyPro to read the ROM and back it up. And then you can choose a file to write back to it, which I have your EMC in the repository I do believe. The software is simple to navigate and self explanatory if I remember correctly. It should be on the left hand pane, one click of a button.
Does this look correct? The first pin is uncovered and 2nd has to be red for vvc on flypro. When I connect it to pc I choose the device type and when I start it says device ID doesn't match but I proceed anyways and when I read it comes up empty so I write (program) chip it says successful, then when I read again it comes up empty and verify fails. Any ideas?
The pinout of your programmer has certain color wires for each. So just connect the correct wires to the correct pin. I have many pictures of the chips pinout. And I hope the write didn't succeed because you can brick your Mac. Do you understand the process of flashing eeprom? What did u think you were flashing back?
