Remove EFI lock for MBA was created by enaw
Hi guys.

I read your tutorial about how to remove the efi firmware lock for MBP and MBA, and I would like to ask you if you finally found a clip connecting the raspberry pi to MBA's efi or not ?

If you didn't, do we have any solution nowadays to unlock a MBA blocked by this ?

I'm wondering, if apple employees can unlock it easily, why can't we do it just like them ? Do they have unique tools we can't get ?

Thanks for your answers guys and congratulations for all your work.

Hello.
Easy Flash Clip, made by thaGHO5ST, can interface with firmware flash. Currently it is a best solution for new devices since the flash chip body is no SOIC-8 body more.
Right now two approaches for physical interface is exist: 1 - SOIC-8 clip for old (before 2013) computers and 2 - Easy Flash Clip for new. But I think thaGHO5ST will answer better on this question.
Apple can unlock its devices easy of course. It is not simple backdoor it is recovery mechanism. By with procedure you will get unlock for one password on the one machine no more and no less. The recovery procedure itself is a program inside a bios. To understand how it works it should be disassembled, reverse logic and new code written. I have no enough skills to do that but may be with time such man (or girl :) ) would be found, I hope...
Our methods are not elegant as they can be but they works. I working on software unlock method but really it is not easy and I can't say how much time this work can take.

I have created a clip that will interface with the ISP header on the MBA logic boards, I will likely have to create one for MBP's as well since they have/are moved to the BGA chips. I need to get my hands on a few newer MBP boards to verify. But, to answer your question the clip is for sale now and can be purchased for $30 USD.

I'm on my way to get the raspberry pi and the V3 clip made by ghost, even if I don't have any hacker skills it's my last chance to save my macbook air anyway.

I don't understand how to realise step2 ("Read the chip three times and verify MD5 check-sum to ensure you have a good backup if things go wrong"), neither step 4 :( ...

I would like to ask you guys if you would accept to guide me, because alone, even with the clip and the raspberry pi, I don't have any chance to succeed.

Hi guys,

I started the process, made almost all the "sudo things" on raspbian. Unfortunately I didn't receive the 8 female to female wires with my raspberry pi.
I'm not sure about which one I need to purchase, please could you tell me which one is the most appropriate ?
Between this one www.futurlec.com/Connectors/FHEADD8pr.shtml and this one www.futurlec.com/Connectors/FHEADS8pr.shtml ?

Thanks for all your help guys.

For the female to female jumper wires you will be needing something like this you might have better luck with shorter wires though

I don't know if your message was for me, but my clip is alright, no problem.

I just received the wires and I think I have to use the "MBA easy flash instructions" forum to understand where to connect each wire.
It's a bit hard for me to understand that, did anyone here already made all the process ? Or have a tutorial with color like the first one posted by ghost ?

If I do a mistake, connecting a wire at a wrong place, how bad could be the consequences ?

Thanks to all for your help.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while I didn't come here !
I hope everything is going good for your website.

I'm still stuck at the same point, I have the raspberry pi 2, the 8 female wires and my macbook air still stuck.

I still have the instructions made by ghost, printed.
But I am not skilled enough to know how to use the wires to unlock my macbook.
I only succeeded to follow all the "sudo" steps.

Please, does anyone have enough time to help me through this ?

this is the pinout for a 26pin GPIO header. if your raspberry pi has a 40pin, just pretend the rest of the pins extend to the right (in the picture).
position your raspberry pi similar to the orientation in the picture, and count your pins from the left, and connect your wires.

you won't be using the SOIC8 pinout on the left (black chip), but note the numbers next to the wires.
the wires will then connect to the ez-flash in the numbered order.

note: my red wire is spliced with the gray wires. they are all the same

connected (to a header, which is connected) to the raspberry pi.
just take your time, and count the pins along

Thank you a lot for your answer !

I send you some pictures to let you see how I did it.
I don't understand how did you splice your red wire with your grays ?
Do I really need my grey and black wire (which correspond to your grays) or can I use only those 6 wires to make the process ?

Thanks again for your help.

I'm on my cellphone and I don't want to download that zip file, so I can't see your pics right now.

If you'll look at the wiring diagram, you'll see the red wire is connected to 3v3, WP, and hold. It should be connected to all of those pins.

I used my inline wire strippers to expose the conductors and solder them together, but in a pinch you could just cut them, strip the ends, and twist them together tightly. I would recommend soldering, or at the very least, using butt connectors or the like, since I'm assuming you don't have access to a breadboard for expanding the 3v3.

However you choose to make that connection, be sure it's solid so that your reading and writing goes well.

no, i believe you've got that wrong.

most of your wires are the same color as the wires in the picture, so try to imitate the colors if you're having trouble tracking which goes where

Hi,
I checked several times, I don't think I'm wrong with my wires.
I took a better picture for you to see it easier.
I succeeded to put the 3 wires into one.
I hope I didn't do it wrong.

But what is the model number listed on the bottom case? Or on the logic board?
