Hello!!

Here is a bin for a EMC 2639 that needs to be cleaned. I actually cleaned it but I was not sure what to do with the serial.
So here is the original read.bin guys.

Here it is with the password cleaned. Do a search for "hwc" with your hex editor and you will see the serial number to the right of it. replace it with the serial number you need.

If I helped you buy me a latte!

Thank You. This one worked like a charm. Can you place this in the repository?

Thanks a lot, first thing. I have checked the fixed BIN attached in this thread, problem is that, I searched for the serial number, I checkd it on everymac(dot)com, and it says that that serial belongs to a i5 3.4Ghz, or to an i7 3.5Ghz, and the machine I have it's an i5 3.2Ghz. I attach here the original BIN from my machine, if you guys could clean it and put it in the repository would be great. iMacs are much more rare to find information about, so it might help a lot of people.

I read the chip three times, I will upload 2nd and third time in a separate message, just if you guys want to double check. Size seems to be exactly the same though. I also attach here chip photo and chip location. Opening the display is much simpler than initially expected, no risks really. Thanks!!

The size rarely changes on a bad read.
What's important is:
Md5 checksums match between reads
Read verifies against chip contents

When I get home tonight I'll check it out, and if it's good I'll pop it in the repo. Thanks

What's the emc of your machine?

Thanks! This is an EMC 2639, iMac A1419, Late 2013, Core i5 3.2Ghz, 27".

I will get you some beers once this is over!! I´m already happy the display is actually quite easy to take apart, they are not cheap...

I will reseach online about Md5 checksums, i´m not such an advance user yet.

It's quite simple... the checksum is a hash created according to the file size and contents run through the md5 algorithm. Two identical files will result in the same checksum hash.

If you have a Linux environment, you can just type "md5sum dump1.bin dump2.bin dump3.bin" and it will result as such:

You can find free utilities for other OS to verify checksums too

Well, I managed to edit the dump following your videos, replacing the characters after the first $SVS by ÿ, I programmed the chip with the new code, PRAM reset like 6-8 times, just in case, hehe, and it booted perfectly. I upload the modded code here, just please edit the serial number when you put it in the repository.

thanks a lot for the MD5 explanation, I found an app for OSX that do MD5 check and the reads where all correct.
