Your bios dump you uploaded did you read it with software or did you clip the chip ?

Hi,

I read it with CH341A mini programmer and chip soldered on a breakout board. I'm not sure it is a correct read or not.

I saw your idea on new approach in CF-31 but there are too many "NVAR" bytes and I'm lost.

Thanks

@Flassh22 Your right about the size, my mk1 from 2010 has an 8mb eeprom where as my mk3 from 2014ish is 16mb.

@phuongnt I too had the same issue with the NVAR.

Looking at the dump there is no setup information in it, do you know what version of the 341a software you are using ? and does it support your chip ?

zanzee - did I unlock that bios ?

I read it by version 1.29, the chip is 12835F but software detects it as 12835E. It is strange that the content is not consistent between different reads. I re-read it by version 1.18 and 1.17 (detected as 12805D) and dumps are identical. Please see the attached file.

Thanks

@Flash22: I tried your v1.30 but the reads were also inconsistent for every read. I'm ordering a non-password CF-H2 MK3 from ebay. Waiting for it to dump the BIOS.

Did you try the dump above ? ebay ? bios depot ? be aware some of there bioses are very crippled as large sections have been over written with 00 or FF

Tried your file but it is still the same. I bought the complete running laptop with same specs., still waiting for it to be delivered. Do you think it can work by cloning the BIOS?

@Flash: Here is the dump from working CF-H2 MK3. I programmed it to locked H2 MK3, everything works ok except the battery isn't recognized by the system. Any clue to solve that problem? Many thanks.

Did you take the H2 apart ? do the 2 leds on the front flash ? did you plug the battery flap sensors back in and fit the flaps ?

edit. the bios shows the batteries in ascii 'CF-VZSU53'

I took it apart and didn't fit the flaps back in. That's why. Thanks very much

No problem, each battery door has a magnet and there is a hall effect sensor that detects it, I found this out when first bench testing the H2
