i have laptop HP Folio 1040 G3 i5 - 6300U , i set up BIOS Admin Password but i forgot it now

need the original file bios

Try this methods, maybe one is working:

1) rewrite full NVRAM area with FF
2) rewrite full NVRAM area with an fresh NVRAM area extracted out of an original bios

-> rewrite serial and other stuff with wndmifit

I'm curious if it is the one and the same chip ( EC and bios chip) or they are two different? There are three "look like bios" chips, two of them has the same marking.

you must find something like W25Q128.. or MX25L128..
there must be 128 thats the bios chip there is the password stored, other one is the EC chip thats like W25Q64.. also for Bios. one time i saw another flash chip on a Zbook -G3 that was 32 mb No idea for it was

Same problem here, Just registered to get the solution. Dont know much about bios, so need your assistance..

you can read dump from bios chip and can unlocked, but g3 has a wson winbond chip you must solder chip of the board, works not with clip on the board, but you can also use a smc bin file this file is generated special for your laptop, you put smc on a blank usb stick and put in your laptop
the file reset the bios, there are 2 smc bins one for unlock and one for unlock and mpm (mpm for when you need replace serial)

when you not can / want to solder then is smc bin the perfect solution! you can buy smc file
